RivTide Power: advancing subsea tidal energy for Scottish waters

RivTide Power is the tidal energy business within the MWNW group, developing subsea technology that converts the predictable movement of water into reliable, low-carbon electricity.

Tidal energy's great advantage is predictability. Unlike more intermittent renewable sources, the tides can be forecast years in advance — which makes tidal generation a valuable, dependable contributor to a balanced energy mix.

The engineering challenge is a demanding one: building equipment that can operate and survive in strong currents and harsh seas, while remaining practical to install, maintain and recover. That is where the group's combined marine, vessel and subsea experience comes together.

Development is ongoing, with the design being refined through the marine-operations expertise built up across the MWNW group. We will share further updates on RivTide Power as the technology progresses.
