Our approach to energy-transition engineering

MWNW exists to take an engineering challenge from concept to commercial reality. We build and back a small group of specialised businesses, each combining the right people with the right technology to solve a specific problem in the energy transition.

We are deliberately selective about the businesses we bring into the group. We look for technology with a genuine engineering advantage, a route to a real market, and a team with the discipline to see it through. We would rather do a few things exceptionally well than spread ourselves thin.

Once a business is in the group, it gains access to shared engineering expertise, marine operations experience and commercial support — while retaining the focus and identity that made it worth backing in the first place.

The energy transition needs hardware that works in the real world, not just on paper. Our job is to shorten the distance between a promising idea and a technology that is deployed, generating value and helping to decarbonise the way we produce and move energy.

This note is the first in a series where we will share more about how the group operates and the thinking behind the technologies we choose to build.
